Sunday 2 a.m.: Daylight Saving Time Begins

Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday at 2:00 a.m. Standard Time for most of the United States of America and Canada. At 2:00 a.m. Standard Time, Civil Time automatically becomes 3:00 a.m. Daylight Saving Time.

In the United States, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands and most of Arizona do not observe Daylight Saving Time, although the Navajo Indian territories in Arizona do observe Daylight Saving Time.

In Canada, most of the nation observes Daylight Saving Time during the same time period as the United States. Exceptions include the Peace River Regional District and the town of Creston in British Columbia, Southampton Island in the Nunavut Territory (formerly part of the Northwest Territories), and the eastern reaches of Quebec's North Shore (east of 63 degrees west longitude), which all do not observe Daylight Saving Time.

Three towns in northwestern Ontario, Pickle Lake, New Osnaburgh, and Atikokan, observe Central Daylight Time year-round.

The Province of Saskatchewan is a special case. Although it is geographically within the Mountain Time Zone, this province has chosen to observe Central Standard Time, year-round. Exceptions include the small Saskatchewan towns of Denare Beach and Creighton which unofficially observe Daylight Saving Time, along with larger neighboring towns in the Province of Manitoba. The City of Lloydminster, bisected by the Saskatchewan/Alberta boundary, observes Mountain Standard Time and Mountain Daylight Time.
